Where I spend time
Maple Ridge and the Lower Mainland: Kanaka Creek Regional Park, local wetlands and shorelines, and the Bell-Irving Hatchery.
I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland, and I still live here. I care most about work that visibly changes the landscape I can drive to on a weekend.
Professionally I have spent about a decade moving between the field and the boardroom, from restoration crews to running provincial programs, and I have learned to do that without losing credibility in either place. What I enjoy most is the translation step: taking a plan, a regulation, or a best practice and making it something the people doing the work can actually use.
The species I work to protect are also the ones I spend my off-hours tracking with a camera. Photography sharpens the same skills that make ecological surveys effective: staying still, noticing what is out of place, and remembering that the most important detail in a habitat is often the quietest one.
What I care about
Getting good plans into the hands of the people who carry them out, and keeping landscape-level thinking honest with local, on-the-ground work.
Where I'm headed
Toward work where landscape-level programs and policy meet, built on more experience running complex, multi-partner initiatives and deeper engagement with policy processes.
